Pure, Renew & Steadfast

"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a
steadfast spirit with in me." Psalm 51:10
-------
What does this verse mean? Okay, I've heard it all my life in Sunday School, Children's Church, Sunday Sermon, Wednesday Bible Study, Daily Devotionals, etc, etc, etc. But today it was different. As I read the words in my FireBible (if you don't have one, get one!!!) it struck something in me. What do these words mean? And am I applying this verse to my life? Well, I went to the Word, not God's Word, but Microsoft Word. Since I didn't have a dictionary at my desk, I just searched for the definitions via Microsoft Word. Here is what I came up with.

Pure: 1. Not mixed: not mixed with any other substance 2. Free from contamination: clean and free from impurities 3. Complete: sheer or complete 4. Describes color, sound, or light that is pleasingly clear and vivid

Renew: 1. Return to doing something: to begin something or doing something again, or be begun again 2. Extend something: to make something such as a contract, lease or license effective for a longer period or be made effective for a longer period 3.: Replace something worn: to replace something that is worn, broken or no longer suitable for use 4.: Repeat promise: to reaffirm or restate a promise or commitment 5.: give somebody or something new energy: to give somebody or something new energy, strength, or enthusiasm 6. Replace something used up: to get a new supply of something 7. Make something new again: to make something new or as if new again

Steadfast: 1. Firm: firm and unwavering in purpose, loyalty or resolve 2. Fixed: firmly fixed or constant
.
After reading these definitions, I have proclaimed a new "Life Verse". I want the Lord to create in me a pure heart. I want my heart to be unmixed, free from contamination, clean and free from impurities. I want Him to renew me everyday. I want Him to replace the used and worn areas of my life. I want to commit my self and promise my self new to Him everyday. I want Him to give me new energy, strength and enthusiasm everyday. And most of all I want to be steadfast in Him. I want to be firm and unwavering in purpose, loyalty and resolve. I want to be constant. He is always constant. He never waivers. He is always pure and clean. He has promised to renew us, to make us new again! Hallelujah!!!
